How To Make Money With Event Photography

If you focus on event photography you can make quite a bit of money. It is a varied and widely sought after field of photography.

Here\’s how you can do it

The key trick is in choosing your market slice. You must choose a slice of the market where people want to keep memories alive in print. It must also be an event that is hard to capture for a not professional so that they will need your services.

One idea is to go to kids sports events. Get permission from the coach to click pics for the parents watching and then start clicking away. If you turn up with a huge telephoto lens like the ones used for pro coverage of events, you will be taken seriously. Make sure you get all the kids doing great action shots and then hand out flyers to all the parents watching with your web address. If you can get hold of the parents email address so you can email them the URL of you site then upload the pics to your web site that day and email everyone. If you have a simple shopping cart set up you can make money in a few hours as people pop in to see the pics and buy them for $20 or more a pop.

You can do a similar thing with weddings. Take all the normal shots as part of the wedding coverage but then get your URL printed on the wedding invites and all the other wedding materials and also get an email list of all the wedding guests, offer the couple a nice 20% discount for doing this and then take lots of extra pics at the wedding of the guests doing all the things they do. Upload all the pics to your site and send the emails. You will then make a lot more money than the 20% discount it cost you because then 30 or 40 people will be also buying your pics at $20 or more a shot straight from your site. Charging a higher price for high res pics is also a great money spinner.

The key is to just find a corner of the market where you can take the pics and then sell them easily online.

Dog shows, fashion shows, horse shows, car shows, livestock competitions, rock shows, – the list goes on. Keep your eye out in the events section of your local paper to see what is happening. Always ask for permission to shoot pics and if you need to offer the people 10% of the income if feel you need to so you can get easy access.

Could HOA’s Change Your Investment Strategies?

Many investors and vacation homeowners purchase homes with the intention of leasing them either full-time or seasonally. But what if you were told that you were prohibited from using the property as a rental? It happens more often than you’d think.

In Arizona for example, most communities built after’90 are in master planned communities and have Homeowners Associations in place. Also called HOA’s, these associations have rules and restrictions known as Covenants, Conditions … Restrictions (CC…R’s). These rules are specific as to how the homeowner may alter or use the land and the property.

Restrictions can range from landscaping, paint colors, window treatments and pets. CC…R’s should be read very carefully before purchasing a home to ensure you will enjoy your home the way you intended. Depending on how your Purchase Contract is written, you can usually cancel a home purchase within a specified time after reviewing these documents.

During the real estate boom, many builders and HOA’s began improvising and changing their rules to include if your home could be used as a rental. Or the rules stated how long you had to occupy the residence before renting to someone else. At first, renting the property might have been the furthest thing from our minds, but in today’s current market many of us have had no other choice but to consider renting our homes out. When we first closed escrow on our homes we agreed to follow the CC…R’s.

People’s perception of rental properties usually relates to higher crime rates, declining property values and un-kept homes. Although this is the assessment by many, it is not true in most cases. In the current housing crisis the foreclosures and bank-owned properties are portraying a worse image.

With the declining Real Estate market and more homeowners considering renting their homes, we are starting to see Homeowners Associations attempting to amend their CC…R’s to include rental home restrictions. Many people believe that CC…R’s cannot be amended. Amendments happen regarding all sorts of rules and regulations. Can this be true for rental properties too?

When you purchase a home the contract stipulates that any CC…R’s are binding and a part of the contract. So in essence you are agreeing to the HOA Rules and Regulation. Now the question is can the HOA change these rules after you have already agreed to the original ones? A purchase contract cannot be amended unless all parties agree.

The issue with amending the CC…R’s after the purchase may be difficult but it can be done. When purchasing a home in a Homeowners Association, read the documents carefully. Consider the long term effects of the restrictions and how they may apply to your investment strategy.

Install a custom closet organizer and get rid of that messy look of your closet. It can give you the space you have been craving for and make your stuffs more easily accessible.

Laminate sheets, paper, bristol board, wood, and many other items are difficult to store because of their size and shape. It helps in paper management helping store incoming information, setting them and retrieving data materials.

For wreaths and other hangable items, use pegboard as a backboard for the unit. It doesn’t matter if you have a huge space for a closet in Chicago or a small space in a New York apartment, the only rule with these types of storage spaces is to design them specifically for your items and habits.
