Bible Prophecy And Your Civil Liberties

Bible Prophecy And Your Civil Liberties

Jesus warned his disciples in some very sobering terms with regard to this earth’s final crisis. He said,”And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must be; but the end shall not be yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:” Mark 13:7,8.

He similarly pointed out that these matters must be, but the end is not yet. As a matter of fact there were and have been wars and rumors of wars on numerous occasions since he pronounced the statement, but the conclusion is not yet. There were additional occurrences that had to come to fruition, but the prophetic significance is that these wars, and rumors thereof, will escalate as the end draws closer and closer.

The prophetic angle that I would like to talk about is that of the present U.S. war (billed as part of the general war on terror) as it pertains to the damage done to the United States and the rights of Americans. The large majority of the American people are opposed to this war, in fact, very many of them are convinced that it was based on a deception from the outset.

What is disquieting about it however is the refusal of the elected representatives to respect the will of the people. The American taxpayer is being bullied to spend billions and billions of dollars for a war that they have very clearly spoken that they do not want.

Moreover, millions of Americans are losing, or have already lost their homes, are paying higher gas prices, food prices etc., while witnessing billions of their tax dollars being committed to war spending, and bank bailouts. Notwithstanding the mantra of “government by the people” in “free” America is still touted.

The Bible prophets warned us that the fundamental representative government in America would at length fall under attack, and finally be changed but the people, by and large, have not cared to heed or consider the warnings of the prophets.

We have been admonished by the Bible to “Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.” 2 Chronicles 20:20.

Notwithstanding, we have not listened to this and as a consequence we find ourselves dwelling in a another American America which the ideals of the Bill Of Rights have become lightly regarded by many in positions of power and influence. And the result of this will be an America that is unidentifiable from what it used to be and what made it superb.

An excellent example of this is when long time senator and Republican candidate for president John McCain was asked on 60 minutes “At what point do you stop doing what you think is right, and start doing what the majority of the American people want” (with regard to the war in Iraq).

Senator McCain answered, “I disagree with what the majority of the American people want”. It seems to me that we should have listened to the prophets.
