John McCain Again Praises the Surge
John McCain is truly delusional. Yesterday on CNN with Wolf Blizer he was once again saying how he had the foresight to recommend the surge and that because of the surge the US is now winning the war in Iraq.
These are the wake up call headlines from an article today in the Washington Post:
“Suicide attacks kill 57 in Baghdad, Kirkuk”
Unfortunately, John McCain is beyond wake up calls. He is already basically brain dead. McCain is saying that the US will be able to soon leave Iraq because we have “won” the war. That “freedom and democracy” will be the order of the day in Iraq in a stable country. His comments only show how ignorant he is about the nature of the conflict in Iraq.
The Shiites and Sunnis have been at each others throats for hundreds of years. While the surge calmed things down for awhile as US forces draw down you can bet that violence will once again take an upward path.
As for the withdrawal of American troops neither McCain or Obama have been completely honest about American intentions in the region. The large scale permanent bases that we have constructed in Iraq allows the US to control the airspace and battle theater over the entire Mid East region. No matter who wins the US presidential election it is highly unlikely that we will withdraw from those bases, no matter what the Iraqi’s want us to do.
Not only is the American empire the occupiers of Iraq we are old fashioned colonialists. The empire’s leaders think that they must secure the Mid Eastern oil fields to fuel the empire’s faltering economy and war machine. As McCain more honestly states in a moment of candor we will probably be in Iraq for the next one hundred years.
